Description
Private {name}, where have you been wandering? An uprising has started in the mines, and you, as usual, appear when the report should be on my desk, not walking through the city on two legs.
Lieutenant Dan and his men managed, by sheer impossible effort, to block the main exit from the mines. They are holding back those trying to break out, but they will not last long. If we give ground now, the city will not have a coal problem. It will have a full fire at its doorstep.
Get to Dan, take his report, and help hold the mines. And do not make me ask twice where you have been. Move, Private.

You showed up just in time, Private. A little later, and you would be reporting not to me, but to my corpse.
We held the exit by a miracle. Almost everyone we recruited for this job is either dead or badly wounded. We took the passage by numbers, and only because we fought in a narrow gorge and had more people there. The men held the line to the last, and we managed to push the gang back into the mines.
But this is not a victory. Inside, they are already regrouping. I can hear orders, crates moving, weapons striking stone. The next attack is about to begin, and we will not hold this exit a second time on a miracle alone.
