Description
I've thought it over. Take it back, {name} — I'm staying here at the gates, and you'll carry the seal.
Take it to Alexey in the city. He's the Count's man and he knows how such things are presented: he won't drop it on a table in the middle of the yard, he'll do it properly.
And report while you're at it: I haven't left the post at the breach, and still nothing comes out of the castle. It's not my place to ask him for anything, but say it yourself, from you: people need to see a king before they realise there's no one left to fear. Otherwise they'll scatter, and there'll be nothing left to gather.

Alexey takes the seal with two fingers, as if it might bite, and looks at the crest for a long moment.
It's genuine. Last time I saw this thing it was on the order appointing me, Private.
He wraps it in a handkerchief and puts it in an inside pocket.
The Count gets it today. When to announce it isn't mine to decide, but he won't drag his feet, I know him: half this city still believes the old days can't come back, and you've just handed them proof otherwise.
